Our Friday Cocktail: Red Rooster Harlem’s Spicy Lady

Every Friday afternoon during our weekly team meeting at SideTour, we select one cocktail to enjoy as a group. This week, we went with the Spicy Lady. This delicious cocktail comes from one of our favorite spots, Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster in Harlem. While this drink is traditionally served “up” in a chilled martini glass, we’ve come to enjoy it over ice.

The Spicy Lady Cocktail Recipe
2 oz Brooklyn Gin
1 oz Simply Syrup infused with Jalapeño and Thyme (recipe below)
3/4 oz lemon juice
2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
1 small orange peel garnish

Fill glass to the top with ice. Add gin, syrup, lemon juice, and bitters. Stir until well-mixed, garnish with orange slice.

Jalapeño and Thyme-infused Simple Syrup
1 cup sugar
1 Jalapeño, cut and seed
5 sprigs of thyme

Mix 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of hot water. Stir until sugar dissolves, add the jalapeño and thyme, then let it sit and cool.
